An excel recording spreadsheet with drop down lists for ease of entry. This is software under development and will be updated regularly as more functionality is added by request or general enhancement. Lists of various taxonomic groups will become available for download as they are prepared and these can be added to the excel workbook to give additional recording groups. The spreadsheet can be used as a simple template for recording species but making full use of the built-in lists will greatly improve recording accuracy and speed of data entry - which is exactly what this site is trying to encourage!

An excel macro which converts a standard BNG Grid Reference into its X and Y components so that this can simply be plotted within GIS software.

ArcPad custom scripts for PDAs and other handheld devices are available for units capable of a screen resolution of 480x640. These scripts allow direct entry of species and related attribute information using the list boxes supplied, which can be updated using the species lists from the download page, and a simple point-and-click data entry mechanism. These scripts can also be used on the PC version of ArcPad. A trial version of the ArcPad software is available for download - check out the related links section on this page (NOTE - the scripts were developed using ArcPad 7.1 and have not been tested under the newer ArcPad environment).
